Child Support
Calculating Child Support Payments
in Pennsylvania
When parents separate, the income that supported one household must now support two households. Unfortunately, two households usually results in increased expenses — without any increase in income. Maintaining the same standard of living after a divorce or physical separation is not an easy thing to do, and is often impossible.
When a divorcing couple has a child or children, the noncustodial parent will likely have to pay child support to the custodial parent. Child support is designed to minimize the custodial parent's financial burden of supporting a child.
At Risoldi Law Offices, we understand the financial fears that come with separation or divorce. We provide the experience, financial acumen and skill required to achieve a fair and just child support agreement that meets the needs of the child while recognizing the realities of the parents' situations.
Do you have questions about what amount of child support you can expect to receive (or will have to pay) after your divorce or separation? Call or e-mail Risoldi Law Offices, LLC today and arrange for a daytime or evening consultation with experienced attorney Carla V. Risoldi in either our Langhorne or Buckingham law office. We can help.

Child Support Payments in Pennsylvania
All states have child support guidelines that the court must consider when evaluating the proper amount of support required to raise a child or children. Many factors are involved in determining the correct amount of support, including each parent's income and the amount of time each parent has custody of the child or children.
The child support guidelines only work when the correct figures are used to calculate a child support award. A skilled lawyer will always consider and argue relevant factors on your behalf when negotiating or litigating the issues of child support, including:
- Any unique circumstances or special needs of the child or children which require a deviation from the child support guidelines, such as a disability, chronic health condition, extreme wealth, private tuition or other education expenses
- A parent's earning potential or earning capacity as opposed to "actual" or "claimed" income
- Properly calculating each parent's income, including overtime pay, business deductions for self-employed parents, unreported income, bonuses, commissions, employer-provided car, lodging or meal expenses, stock options and other deferred income
- Work-related childcare expenses and contributions
- Unreimbursed medical expenses, medical insurance, dental, vision and health care coverage expenses
In addition to helping you with the initial establishment of a child support order, our support attorney can help with child support enforcement. If there is a need to increase or decrease child support after divorce, she can also represent you in a support modification motion.
